Subject:                                CO2 Coalition Announces New Executive Director Caleb Rossiter, Ph.D.

The CO2 Coalition is pleased to announce that Caleb S. Rossiter, Ph.D., a long-time CO2 Coalition member, has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Coalition.  Dr. Rossiter has a long and distinguished career as a specialist in research methods with a focus on the use and misuse of statistics and models in the climate change debate, U. S. foreign policy and world history and politics.  He has extensive experience in academic administration, policy-making and policy analysis, and American government with emphasis on the legislative process.

Dr. Rossiter has worked in Washington's policy and academic arenas since 1981.  He was originally part of the "consensus" that industrial carbon dioxide causes climate catastrophe, but began to change his conclusions in the mid-2000's while reading his statistics students' analyses of the studies and models cited by proponents of the consensus.  Since then he has written widely on the weakness and uncertainty of climate claims and models.

Rossiter's policy advocacy has focused on the generation and transmission of electricity in Africa, where life expectancies are low, only a quarter of households have reliable electricity, and fossil fuels "scrubbed" of pollutants are a crucial source of energy.  He is a "climate casualty:" this advocacy resulted in his firing in 2014 by a Washington think tank whose funders promote the climate catastrophe hypothesis.

Dr. Rossiter earned his Ph.D. in policy analysis from Cornell University and his M.A. in mathematics from American University.  He was assistant professor in the School of International Service between 2002 and 2010 and adjunct professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the School of International Service from 2010 to 2018. There he taught courses on Quantitative Analysis in International Affairs and on U.S. Policy in Africa, with modules on models purporting to explain the causes of climate change and economic development.

He has served as an adjunct professor at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa and at Cornell University's Washington Campus and lectured at many academic institutions, including the United States Military Academy, George Washington University, the University of California and the University of Puget Sound.

From 1987 to 1990, Dr. Rossiter was deputy director of the bipartisan Arms Control and Foreign Policy Caucus of the U.S. Congress.  From 2007 to 2009, he served asCounselor to the Chairman of the  Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights, and Oversight of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

He has also worked as a consultant on methods to reduce civilian casualties of war for the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation.

Scientific truth has never been estab-lished by consensus. History reveals many instances when the scientific consensus of the day was later discredited. Given the frequency of mis-taken consensus, citizens everywhere should heed the Royal Society's motto

nullius in verb

a, "don't take anyone's word for it," or more simply, "see for yourself."
